Swedish Massage
Who should get a Swedish Massage?
People who are new to massage therapy and also just want to relax and release tension. During a Swedish Massage I will use massage oils to facilitate smooth gliding strokes called effleurage, it includes kneading, friction and stretching. It's a very relaxing massage.
Deep Tissue Massage
What is Deep Tissue Massage?
Deep Tissue Massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. I like to take my time in warming up the first layers of skin by doing some Myofascial release before I apply deep pressure. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders. The movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain.
Sports Massage
How is Sports Massage Beneficial?
Sports Massage is more vigorous than a Swedish Massage, designed to enhance athletic performance and recovery. Sports massage can be beneficial to an athlete pre-event. Fast-paced and stimulating, it helps to establish blood flow and to warm up muscles. Sports Massage is also used post-event with the intent to calm the nervous system and begin the process of flushing toxins and waste products out of the body. Post-event massage can reduce recovery time, enabling an athlete to resume training much sooner than rest alone would allow. When an athlete sustains an injury, skillful massage therapy can often speed and improve the quality of healing.
Hot Stone Massage
What is Hot Stone Massage?
Hot Stone Massage Therapy is a variation on classic massage therapy. Smooth, flat stones are immersed in water and heated in an electric heating device until they are within a certain temperature range, the therapist places the heated stones on key points on your body. The heat warms and relaxes the muscles, which allows your therapist to apply deeper pressure, if desired. The warmth of the hot stones improves circulation and calms the nervous system.
Neuromuscular Therapy
What is Neuromuscular Therapy?
Neuromuscular Therapy (also called Trigger Point Myotherapy) is a comprehensive program of soft-tissue manipulation that balances the body’s central nervous system with the musculoskeletal system. Neuromuscular Therapy can help individuals who experience distortion and biomechanical dysfunction, which is often a symptom of a deeper problem. This type of therapy consists of alternating levels of concentrated pressure on the areas of muscle spasm to release the lactic acid from the muscle, resulting in increase blood flow and oxygen.
Couples Massage
What Are the Benefits of Couples Massage?
Couples massage is a refreshing way to enjoy quiet relaxing soothing touch together. It's the perfect solution for someone who is a little nervous about their first massage. A couple comes in together and both are treated to a massage. Each lies on a separate massage table and they both receive a massage simultaneously by two trained massage therapists in the same private room. This shared experience can be beneficial for partners, friends, sisters, or mothers and daughters. A wonderful way to benefit from quality time together.
Prenatal Massage
What are the benefits of pregnancy massage?
The benefits of massage can improve overall prenatal health for many pregnant women. The goal of Prenatal Massage is to relax tense muscles enhancing the function of muscles and joints and to improve blood circulation and relieve mental and physical fatigue. Massage during pregnancy can relieve back pain, ease your muscular aches and pains and has been found to reduce anxiety and depression. Your body produces stress hormones during pregnancy. These stress hormones are felt by you and by your baby. Prenatal Massage can reduce your stress and increase the comfort level of your unborn baby. Consult your obstetrician or prenatal care provider before beginning any new therapeutic practice.Facial and Body Treatments
